Biographical notes:
Adelaide Teachers Training College 1896. Pupil teacher at Snowtown. Primary school teacher at Adelaide, Farina, Lyrup (1899-1901), Nackara, Oaklands, Halbury (7 May 1906 to end 1911), Berri. Alloted Block 72 by the surveyor General on 5 Dec 1912 which he planted with citrus fruit while still teaching. Later became full time fruit grower. His fruit was carted to the railway at Paringa by Harold Oliver (also fruit grower in Berri & Port Adelaide & SA footballer). The railway originally only went as far as Paringa prior to the erection of the bridge over the Murray.
Sidney was the first secretary of the Berri Packing Cooperative. Designed & built his own machine for grading oranges by size into separate bins prior to packing.
