Biographical notes:
Enrolled at Halbury school on 13 Nov 1911. Visited farm of uncle Alf Bowman & aunt Mary (Phillips) at Weavers, Yorke Peninsular in Dec 1911 or Jan 1912. Family moved to Berri in Jan 1912.
Educated at Berri Primary School, Adelaide High School 1919-1922, Roseworthy Agricultural College 1923-1925 (First Class Diploma in Agriculture), SA School of Mines 1940-? (Mechanical Draughtsman's Certificate).
Worked on father's citrus block at Berri (Block 72) until Jan 1940. Moved to Woodville Jan 1940 & worked at Finsbury munitions plant as machinist making shell cases etc while studying at School of Mines. Later worked as a draughtsman at ICI where he was secretary of the chess club.
Returned to Berri to take over citrus block which he prchased from his father on 30 May 1955 for £10,160. Purchased blocks 88 & 88A on 1 Jul 1963 for £5,000. Operated both blocks until retirement when he moved to Brandreth St, Marryatville on 1 Jun 1983.
Member of Kensington Marryatville Bowling Club. Moved to Leabrook Resthaven in 2002.
Died on the morning of his 100th birthday.
