Ted is the painter, Edmund Travers Pope, who lived, for the latter part of his life, at Bexleyheath, Kent. Will is his elder brother, William Henry Pope, & Hugh is William's son, Hugh Gilmore Pope. William migrated to South Australia in 1882 & never saw his brother again. Hugh's visit probably took place in 1918/19 at the conclusion of his military service during World War I.

These are only sketches I have my room in such confusion papers and books everywhere I cannot find the things I wish and Hugh will tell you I have hardly a moment any day what with My Work Garden & Domestic I can only keep things just going I would like to send you something nice later these I have picked out in a hurry
