Biographical notes:
Son of James Oliver and Sarah Mill.
Addresses: Lyrup, SA (1908), Alberton SA (1913), Berri, SA (from about 1915), Cowandilla, SA.
Began fruit-growing at Lyrup, SA, AUS in Sep 1908 where he was captain of the Lyrup football team. The team travelled to Mildura in 1909 where they were beaten twice by the local side. However an umpire from Melbourne said that Harold would be welcome in Melbourne if he cared to come. The following season he commenced playing for Port Adelaide for whom he played 104 games, kicking 89 goals, 1910-1922. Played in 4 premierships. Best-and-fairest twice. Represented SA 14 times. The club bought him a motor bike so that he could commute from Berri where he eventually settled on his own block as a fruit grower. In retirement he moved to the Adelaide suburb of Cowandilla.
