Biographical notes:
Occupation: Labourer (1840).
Henry was convicted of horse stealing at Norfolk Assizes on 15 Aug 1821 & received a sentence of 7 years which was spent in the Prison Hulk Leviathan at Portsmouth. He was released on 7 Sep 1827 but was convicted again for horse stealing at Norfolk Assizes on 6 Aug 1828. This time he was given a life sentence & transportation to New South Wales. While waiting, he was again incarcerated in the prison hulk Leviathan. He travelled with 199 other convicts on the Norfolk departing 20 May 1829 & arriving about 20 Jan 1830. A Ticket of Leave was issued on 2 Oct 1837. This form of probation was issued to those with a life sentence after 8 years of good behaviour. Another Ticket of Leave was issued on 1 Oct 1840 replacing the earlier document which was returned mutilated and cancelled. Among other details, the document described Henry as 5' 4" high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes and gave the following general remarks: 'Several blue marks on both arms. Lost right leg.' He was required to remain in the district of Carcoar. A further Ticket of Leave was issued on 14 Feb 1842. His application for permission to marry was granted on 27 Jun 1842. On 30 Jan 1847 he was granted a provisional pardon valid anywhere in the world except the Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
