Biographical notes:
Domestic servant before marriage. Migrated from DEV, ENG in the 'Isabella Watson' arriving at Port Adelaide, SA, AUS on 14 May 1846. She was accompanied by her husband, Robert, & her first child, William, was born during the voyage. The ship was built in 1840 & registered in Glasgow in 1842. It left London on 3 Jan 1846 & called at Plymouth on 18 Jan 1846 (which is presumably where they joined the vessel). It carried a total of 230 emigrants. Lived in Burra, Watervale & Kadina. Land Tax Return of 1885 shows her as a widow living in Kadina at Allotment 192, Dingo St. Kadina Council Rates Assessment books show ownership of property in Elder Ward, Acre 192, in Sophia Terrace & in Dingo St. between 1873 & 1903. Sophia Terrace later became the western third of Doswell Terrace.
Note: In her death registration, her husband Robert Collins is recorded as being her father.
Surname also spelled 'Dewins'.
