Educated at Unley Primary School & Unley High School. Stenographer with the ABC in Adelaide. Enlisted with the WAAF on 27 Sep 1943 during WWII, service number 111422, rank Aircraftwoman. Seved at RAAF Headquarters, Melbourne. Discharged on 7 Aug 1946 at 2 Operational Training Unit. Worked with the Lipton Company in Adelaide & secured a transfer to the London office in 1950. Met Hughie Burns while walking in Wales & returned by sea to Adelaide on the Strathaird in late 1952 with him. Lived in Hazelwood Park after their marriage where two children were born. Hugh's work took them to Melbourne where they lived at East Oakleigh & their third child was born. When Hugh went into semi-retirement, they moved to Shenton Park, WA where June worked part-time. Following Hugh's death, June moved to a unit in Como & followed interests with the WA Bridge Club & the Herb Society. In 1993 she moved to a retirement village unit in Rowethorpe, WA.
